Fujitsu Siemens - Merger of the IT industry

Under the brand name Fujitsu Siemens, computers and their components have been manufactured from 1999 till 2009. The company - whose full name Fujitsu Siemens Computers GmbH - originated from a merger of the two parent companies, which had an equal share in the new company. Headquarters of the company was the Bavarian capital Munich.

It only lasted 10 years, as Siemens sold all its shares in Fujitsu and the successor company Fujitsu Technology Solutions took over all German locations. In the years before its dissolution Fujitsu Siemens brought Computers (FSC) different PC series, workstations, notebooks and tablet PCs, as well as mainframes, servers and different storage solutions to the market. A favorite of hobbyists and technicians were the hard drives, graphics cards and motherboards of the German-Japanese manufacturer.

The end of a popular brand

Until the termination of the merger by Siemens, FSC was the only and the last German or European computer manufacturer with a significant global market share. Headquarters of the now renamed Fujitsu Technology Solutions company is however still Munich.
